Windows Vista Skins

So you have your background wallpaper, even your Vista theme. Your desktop is as personal and unique as you are. At this point you’re feeling you really want to take your Windows Vista experience to the next level. Skins are a great way to do that. With Skins you can personalize your Dreamscene and windows with color and icons.

A skin basically covers up the boring plain looking window and gadget and spices it up to add graphics and realistic pictures that basically look like they can jump right out at you or even make you feel like you could walk right through the screen and be there.
Custom Graphical appearances can be added to your Stardock or favorite graphic software to create the look you desire. Searching the web for the look you want is the best place to start for ideas.

Skinning is the process of writing the image and data to the software to create the skin. Skinning literally changes the look and feel of the window of the application. Some skins can be designed to change the look and appearance only, jazzing it up or making it to match the theme of the computer, such as a Windows Vista Skin, that resembles the look of Vista. Skins can also make certain applications run more smoothly, therefore making the program and the application much easier to use.

Typically in some skins icons can change in appearance within the application, relating to the theme. For instance if you download or create a Star Wars theme, the skin will change your application to look like a space ship, with a black sky and stars in the background. Maybe a robot or light saber will change the old icons to relate more to the theme. The idea is to give you the closest look and feel of your creation. Skins for applications are not new to Vista, they have been popular since the 1990’s and have been used to dress up music players and Instant Messengers. Vista though has brought the high resolution graphics and animation to the skin world, bringing them to life on the users screen.

Skins are an enjoyable way to express ones characteristics and individuality. When looking for advice on a skin, not only is it a good idea to think about what appeals to you. Another thought would be to bring to the table your favorite hobbies such as bowling or golf. A golf skin could be created using golf balls for the icons, a putting green for the background, even a club for the toolbars. For Bowling, an alley could be the background. A bowling ball could be the icons and the pins could line up and create the toolbars.

Some are into popular designers like Louis Vuitton and Coach. It would be easy to create a Coach Skin, by using borrowed images off of the web. Maybe fishing is a favorite past time. A cool dark lake could be the background, a fishing pole could be the toolbar and different species of fish could be the icons. Skins for your Windows Vista applications can be easy to create, if you utilize the right tools. The possibilities are endless and there are so many different styles shapes and colors to choose from.
